Hello there, team. I’m Hoxmot and this is my blog. This is my very first post in this category, but technically speaking, the last one I’m writing. I just decided to go with the least important category on my blog last.

Why the least important? Well, I’ve never been very much into hardware, tech, and gear. The biggest challenge was that it was, unfortunately, quite expensive to get into. At the same time, I didn’t have very good access to learning sources around it.

Of course, as a technical person who has loved computers my whole life, I knew how to deal with a PC, but I’ve never had spare hardware or spare PCs lying around. I’ve never self-hosted, and it was hard for me to get cool gadgets.

However, I’d say that is now changing. I met people who are interested not only in software and coding, but also tech and hardware: self-hosting, home automation, tech gadgets, headphones, keyboards, and all that sort of thing. This is becoming more and more interesting to me and seems like a natural extension of the two already existing pillars of this blog: Software Engineering and Video Games. That’s why I decided to add this category as well.

I’m currently working on getting into self-hosting (I already got the server!), I’m playing around with my tower PC, I’m exploring different keyboards, and I’m looking into cool devices like Meshtastic. I plan to write about those interesting topics here—my journey, my learnings, and so on.

If you’d like to join me for the ride, feel free to follow me on my social media in the footer, or follow my RSS feeds (you don’t risk anything):

Recently, I cleaned my PC, which included disassembling my GPU to replace the thermal pads. It was a wild adventure, so I hope to share that story on my blog, especially since learning how to completely disassemble my PC was quite an experience. Furthermore, as I mentioned, I am also working on my home server, so I’ll be releasing a small series of articles on how I built it, what I put on it, and how everything went. Stay tuned!

In the meantime, while you’re here, you might be interested in checking out the first articles in my other categories: Hello World – The Start of the Hoxmot Blog (Software Development) and Hello There – A Long-Dreamt Gaming Blog (Video Games).
